What Does “AIM” Mean?

The “AIM” in AIM Concepts stands for “Accuracy in Motion”.  This phrase can mean multiple things, all of which describe how I desire AIM Concepts to positively impact clients and the motion system industry.

  • I am an expert in the design, manufacturing, and testing of motion systems with a focus on accuracy of motion systems.  Throughout my career most of the challenging projects included accuracy or precision requirements.  Accuracy is anything but a simple, straight-forward definition or test.  Whether it is single axis linear displacement accuracy, XY planar accuracy (2D), or volumetric accuracy (3D), I have experience resolving complexities that occur in these varied motion systems and applications.  I also have relevant experience and insight in accuracy tied to a time requirement (like move and settle, cycle time, or throughput sensitive applications), accuracy of an applied force, accuracy of a system that operates in a transient thermal environment, or accuracy requirements at a stripped down cost.
  • I am an engineer providing an accurate solution for motion system problems or applications.  I’m not using accurate here to mean positional accuracy but rather an assessment of engineering knowledge and experience as it specifically relates to motion systems.  Any motion system or application has a host of both obvious and subtle factors that can determine success.  The value I bring to motion system design and application problem is through reduced iteration and increased probability of getting it right the first time.
  • I believe the world of accuracy and precision motion systems will always be in motion.  Technology, motion system specifications, testing methods, manufacturing methods, and stage designs will always be in a metaphorical state of motion or forward progress.  I don’t expect to stand still and depend on my past knowledge and experience but do expect to continually develop and discover.
